BAE Systems Regional Aircraft has leased two ATP regional passenger turboprop airliners to Enimex Airlines of Estonia. The first aircraft (msn 2023) was delivered in early July and the second (msn 2018) will be delivered in mid August.

Enimex becomes the seventh new customer won by Regional Aircraft for its leasing portfolio during 2006 and the second in this period from countries that were formerly part of the Eastern bloc.

Enimex is a well-established ACMI (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance, Insurance) and charter operator, having been founded in 1994. The company has a wide range of customers, including other airlines, governmental organisations, military, rescue and humanitarian aid organisations.

The airline’s current fleet consists of five Antonov An-72-100 jet transports, but Enimex decided that its next fleet step needed to be a modern and fuel efficient aircraft, available in both passenger and cargo configurations and with a similar capacity to the An-72. 

After a careful evaluation the airline chose the BAE Systems ATP as the most versatile and economical aircraft for its needs. It is the first Western aircraft to be operated by Enimex, which in the past has also flown Ilyushin Il-76TD freighters and the Antonov An-28 light utility transport aircraft.

Enimex will deploy its two ATPs under existing contracts with its client base.
