BAE SYSTEMS Regional Aircraft announced today the appointment of David Speirs to the new post of Executive Vice President, North America, based at Herndon, Virginia. Speirs was formerly Senior Vice President – American Support and Head of Materiel.

In this new role he will take overall responsibility for all Regional Aircraft’s activities in North America and will have a particular focus on identifying and capturing new business to broaden the business base. He played a key role in securing the contract from AvCraft Aerospace GmbH for spares, storage, distribution and logistics support on the multi-role Dornier 328 and 328JET aircraft in services across the Americas. He also was instrumental in starting Regional Aircraft Services and establishing the maintenance, repair and overhaul facility in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Also announced today is the appointment of
Hamish Davidson as Senior Vice President Asset Management, North America, taking over this role from Michael Canzian, who is leaving the company.

BAE Systems Regional Aircraft’s operation in North America is centred on its facility at Herndon, from where it provides comprehensive spares logistics and technical support to customers of BAe 146/Avro RJs, Jetstream 31/32s and Jetstream 41s operating in the region.

The Asset Management team at Herndon is responsible for the management, sales and leasing of a worldwide portfolio of 203 BAE Systems-built regional turboprops (128 Jetstream 32 and 75 Jetstream 41s) in which BAE Systems retains financial interests.
